A repeatable way to evaluate live AI video effects
q
qing shaoA single still frame can hide the problems that show up in live AI video. If you are deciding whether an effect belongs in a short video, use the same tiny test for each candidate.
- Set the frame and lighting before you start the effect.
- Record the same short sequence each time: face the camera, turn to one side, and say one line.
- Replay both clips and compare how the effect behaves during movement, whether the framing still works, and whether the style matches the scene. Change one input at a time so you can tell what helped.
I work on Live Face Swap, a browser workspace where this workflow can be used with live face swaps, video restyling, and virtual try-on. The local camera preview is free; live AI generation requires sign-in and credits. Use reference images you have permission to use, and disclose realistic changes when sharing the clip.
The same test works with other tools. The recorded take gives you a concrete comparison instead of a first impression.
